Hotel is average at best. A bit dated with few amenities. The bedding and linens were not the standard I would expect to see in a Hilton. The rooms were clean and the provided soap and lotion were nice. Having both a fridge and a microwave was a nice surprise. I had an ocean front room on the second floor which provided a nice sunrise each morning (I stayed three nights). The koi pond / river was sad to look at. The hotel is currently being renovated, so I can imagine it will have a new fresh look in some time. The hotel is beach facing, but not directly on the beach. My favorite part was my 6.30/7a swims each morning. The closed in lagoon had plenty of tropical fish to swim with! If you’re looking for basic basic, with beach access this is a good choice. Nothing fancy, but you get what you pay for.

Paid $1705 for 4 nights and parking and got a room with a side view of the pool and located above their service entrance area. Not the view we were expecting. Witnessed 4 large labs and their owners playing fetch in the pool. The hotel …

The beds are very comfortable and it’s the best value hotel on Kauai. We stayed at this hotel three nights last week. We arrived and attempted to check in about 3:30 in the afternoon after a long flight. The front desk young gal (Veronica) was very rude. She said our room wasn’t ready and would be a cottage, but we explained to her that we had booked and we were guaranteed a Junior suite with an ocean view. She was very rude. We left our bags and went on an excursion and came back and our room still wasn’t ready. She softened a bit and she did acquiesce and finally gave us the room that we have been guaranteed the Junior suite with an ocean view. The bed was very comfortable and the room was clean However, we had to have our bags carried down two sets of stairs to get all our luggage and my husband‘s golf clubs down to our room. There was no elevator going down to the first floor. (Kurt came to our rescue and told us to go to our room and he would get our bags to us and he did!) However, when it was time to leave, we had to figure out a system to drag everything back up to flight of stairs to the main floor. The nicest person on property was a gentleman named Kurt. He’s the best thing this hotel has going on! He knows everything he’s super friendly and helpful and I even wondered if he was like an undercover boss or like the owner masquerading as an employee! Every time he saw us he was so friendly and helpful and kind and knowledgeable. The breakfast was wonderful! Nice view excellent service from the sweetest Filipino lady! Nice view at breakfast. In the morning, when we went to the front desk to get towels, the lady was very rude and did not explain the towel system to us. It was our first time to get towels, and she demanded that we give her some kind of card which we had never been given and didn’t know what she was talking about Then she said we would be charged $25 a towel. What! Kurt was kind enough to explain to us that perhaps that lady was having a bad day and he made sure and got us towels and gave us the cards and explained the system. The towels were not have a good quality And they were very stingy about them. You could not have more than one towel per person. Not not impressed with the pool towel system.

I travel often and stay at many hotels, and my experience at the Hilton Garden Inn in Lihue, Hawaii was one of the most frustrating. First, the property is misleading. There are no balconies unless you are on the first floor—and even those are just a couple of chairs sitting on rocks, hardly a relaxing setup. None of the windows in the rooms open, making the space feel stuffy and closed off. I paid for an “ocean view suite,” but it’s really just a partial view at best. The ocean is mostly blocked by trees, so don’t expect to wake up to sweeping views. The atmosphere was also disappointing. Many of the local staff appeared unhappy to be there, and the overall vibe was far from the warm Hawaiian hospitality I’ve experienced elsewhere. The worst part was the billing. Two days after check-in, the hotel charged my card $1,563 on top of the $1,653 hold they had already placed. When I asked, I was told this was for “auditing purposes” and that both would eventually fall off with the correct charge. In all my years of traveling, I have never encountered a hotel that runs two large transactions for a single stay under the guise of auditing. It’s unnecessary and left me worried about my account throughout the trip.

Love this big hotel! Beautiful grounds with excellent views. Close walking to beautiful beach. Pool is a little small but that’s ok. I didn’t like my breakfast or latte in the downstairs restaurant (had eggs Benedict). My ham was thick & mostly fat w/ hard to chew pieces.

I was shy about booking this hotel because of the negative reviews. We had no issues with cockroaches, but there we bits and pieces of the interior that felt old and outdated. The sink clogged up and it was fixed but then clogged up again. I think the main reason to stay here is that it is in front of an amazing beach area. There are not many beaches that feel completely safe to swim in, but this beach was perfectly safe for kids of all ages. Don't look for luxury here but based on the location I think you could do worse. They also give you 2 hours free bike ride which is a good deal given the scenic bike path that you can ride.

From the moment we checked in, Veronica at the front desk went above and beyond to make our stay exceptional. She’s top notch! As Hilton gold this is in my top amazing properties and experiences! We had booked multiple nights separately, which normally can be a headache with check-ins and room changes. Veronica not only took the time to understand our situation but worked it out so we could keep the same beautiful corner oceanfront room for our entire stay. That level of care and effort made a huge difference in our trip. She was warm, professional, and genuinely kind, exactly the kind of hospitality that makes a guest feel welcome and valued. We travel often, and it’s rare to find someone so attentive and proactive. Because of Veronica, what could have been a logistical hassle turned into one of the smoothest, most enjoyable hotel experiences we’ve had. Mahalo, Veronica, you made our Kauai stay unforgettable!

We were in a cottage. Super close to the beach and got to park right in front. Spacious room with mini fridge and a microwave. The staff is really nice. I love that they held our bags and they had a hospitality room we could use to shower before our late night flight. It’s a great location close to town and the market. We stayed in poipu earlier in the week and i prefer this location as we were in north shore most days.

I’ve heard of roach motels, but never actually stayed in one until now. We saw & killed many roaches, including babies, which signals a serious infestation. The fishpond by the front desk looks dire and sets the tone for the whole property. Most front desk staff were cold, though one older gentleman at the front entrance was genuinely kind and helpful. The location is great and the beds are comfortable, but the bathroom exhaust fan was rusted, inoperable and dropping debris. And they charge $25 a day for parking….. Just add it to the initial charges and stop playing silly games. Great location can’t make up for the neglect. Definitely not a stay I’d repeat.

When we first arrived we noticed the hotel was not as pictures we viewed online, Hotel appearance on the outside was run down ( Roof Rot, Rusted out gutters). Then upon check in we were told a resort fee of $25 a day(which yes is normal for most places) but it did not include parking in the resort fee - That was another $25 a day. The resort fee was to cover resort expensive (Pool towels, beach chair and Ice chest rental, bikes, different activities offered by the hotel such as vendor events, fire shows, lei making lessons, etc.) Out of all those activities I saw 2 things in the 6 days we were there. We were never told about bikes or chairs and the 3 times we went to ask for pool towels they were all out! The Gym was not well maintained we went there 4 out of our 6 days and you could tell was not cleaned very well (same dead cockroach on the floor for 3 days) Lets talk about the rooms! Horrible - Old Popcorn ceilings, Mattress is old and bottoms out when you sit on it, Windows only open about 3 inches and no screens and with the moisture in the room we needed to open it more than that, The circulation vents in the bathroom not working at all - you could tell the moisture in your room as your clothes always felt a little damp! We had breakfast there 1 day and for the price the buffet is so not worth it!! We did not have dinner there as the food on the menu was basic bar type food offerings. I also went to do laundry on the sheet of the hotel property it stated you could get soap in the lobby for $2 a box well went to go buy and the box was $4!! False advertisement is a issue at this hotel! The staff did there best to take care of issues but it seems the owners don't really care about the appearance of their hotel. I would not recommend this to anyone!! there is so much better around the area for about the same price!!!
