We almost booked Marriott/Sonesta but chose Outrigger Kaua‘i Beach Resort, and I couldn’t be happier we did. I was traveling solo with my 9-year-old for a wedding in Hanalei, but wanted to spend a night closer to the airport for our flight- and also near Backcountry Adventures so I could take my son tubing (highly recommend!). At Outrigger we felt safe, cared for, and never overwhelmed. I’m not Hawaiian and will never pretend to be, but I always try to travel with respect for the culture and people of the island. Outrigger was exactly what I hoped for- a stunning property, but not an overproduced, Disneyland-style resort. It feels rooted, welcoming, and connected to Kauai. Our room was comfortable (great bed!), the pool is gorgeous, the grounds are lush, and the beach feels raw and natural/undeveloped. What truly sets this place apart, though, is the people. Wenona at the concierge is a serious gem and deserves all the kudos!! She’s kind, thoughtful, and genuinely helpful. Our trip would not have been the same without her and any resort would be lucky to have her on their team. Traveler tip: the taxi phone at the airport was reliable ($17 to Outrigger, about $25 with bags and tip). Outriggers sunrise yoga was a perfect start to the day, and the brunch buffet helped ease our redeye jet lag. If you’re looking for comfort and that Hawaii-wow-factor but you’re choosing between big-box or soul, choose Outrigger. I’m so grateful we did 🌺⛰️✨

Outrigger Kauaʻi Beach Resort is a beautiful property with a fantastic location—just steps from the beach with stunning views and plenty of space to relax. The grounds are well maintained, and the beach access feels private and peaceful, which made my stay really enjoyable. One thing to note is that if you’re booking through a third-party or Airbnb, some resort amenities and activities (like lei making or hula dancing) may not be included, so it’s good to double-check before booking. Overall, though, it’s a lovely resort and a great home base for exploring the island of Kauaʻi.

Awesome place. Clean room that was newly renovated. Staff were all super friendly. The property is very well kept and all the pools are great. Food was all great! Perfect location, close by to stores/airport but you still are secluded right on the beach. I’m shocked that not a lot of people mentioned their special events/classes available to guests. We did a few events (like the sunrise ceremony) and it was very cool to learn and also participate with the Hawaiian culture. Many are free so I’d check those out!

We cannot say enough about our home away from home where my bride and I began our life long, loving journey on September 7th 2013!! The Kauai Beach Resort welcomed us with open arms, a smile and the best service and attention then, and now on our most recent visit in September 2025. We married on their beach, both barefoot in the sand, in shorts for me, beautiful dress for her and a very accommodating resort staff. This year, we revisited "our" place in the resort in a Garden View room that was CLEAN, with a perfect view of the grounds, gardens, pool, poolside hut bar and some oceanview. The Spa at the resort was fantastic where we shared a couples massage that would really be our recommendation thanks to Christina, Mylene and Kala! They too had Island recommendations that were spot on and we even started to order some body creams that are very healing...THANK YOU LADIES!!! The staff, WOW!! From Saddie at the front desk with her permanent smile, laughter and advice on where to go and what to do, to Vincent in Shutters Lounge as the PERFECT waiter, gentleman of about 22 years young who is a fantastic person to chill with...GOOD JOB Vincent's parents! Gracia at the poolside Hut / Bar was sooo sweet and always smiling and a top ranked server. She also had very good recommendations for Island pleasures! There was also the AMAZING housekeeping staff that have impeccable skills and attitude, THANK YOU ALL for making this our 2nd amazing honeymoon!!! We also want to give the grounds people a HUGE kudos for explaining how to care for, and grow the "Tea Leaf" plant and Plumeria Plants. This is a destination that is a must for lover's, leisure, weddings fun and business gatherings! When, not if you go, we recommend you check daily at the front desk whiteboard for daily Resort activities like lei making, yoga etc. DO IT, DO IT, DO IT!! You won't regret it!

We stayed here for six days and had the absolute BEST experience. The resort staff are so friendly and helpful, the pool area is gorgeous, and there’s no better place to catch a sunrise than on the beachfront access. The resort has live music every night with fantastic happy hour deals and delicious food. Not to mention, the resort is centrally located so commutes to either side of the island aren’t bad at all. We truly enjoyed every second of our time and will definitely be back to this resort.
